Without fail, there is at least one daily news broadcast that leads to a finger-pointing outrage every day. And, it doesn’t matter where you live, which political party you endorse, or what you had for breakfast. Across the board, emotions are stuck in overdrive. Chau ,
Howdy, i read your blog from time to time and i
own a similar one and i was just curious if you get a lot of spam comments?
If so how do you prevent it, any plugin or anything you can recommend?
I get so much lately it’s driving me mad so any support is very much appreciated.

Hello, Chau.
Yes, we get quite a few spam comments. There are a couple of different options with spam comments:
I found option #1 entirely unacceptable. I simply cannot condone low-quality or inappropriate comments. Option #2 doesn’t work either, especially with plugins accessing SPAM databases and the back-and-forth that results in a slow-down on the site or server. So, option #3 is the only one for us but it does result in a delay. It doesn’t take that long to approve a comment (or delete it) but I like to respond to comments whenever possible and so that is where the delay happens for me. Sometimes I will go in and approve without commenting, just to be sure that the comments get through but sad to say, there is still much more of a delay than I would like, especially on our really popular sites.
But, to each, his own and each site owner has to make their own decision. Probably the one that is most popular with people would be the plugins that help to semi-automate the process, but as I said, I have noticed significant slowdown results from those and I question the security. However, I can see where people may find it helpful.
